Bragg Mirrors for Thermal Waves

چکیده

We present a numerical calculation of the heat transport in Bragg mirror configuration made materials that do not obey Fourier’s law conduction. The is are described by Cattaneo-Vernotte equation. By analyzing equation’s solutions, we define thermal wave surface impedance to design highly reflective mirrors. Even for mirrors with few layers, very high reflectance achieved (>90%). also system makes evident wave-like nature solution equation showing frequency pass-bands absent if usual law.

Ultra - refraction phenomena in Bragg mirrors

We show numerically for the first time that ultra-refractive phenomena do exist in one-dimensional photonic crystals: we exhibit the main features of ultra-refraction, that is the enlargement and the splitting of an incident beam. We give a very simple explanation of these phenomena in terms of the photonic band structure of these media. It has recently been shown numerically as well as experim...

Micropatterned Porous-Silicon Bragg Mirrors by Dry-Removal Soft Lithography

Multilayer structures of nanoporous silicon have garnered significant interest as components of optical and sensing devices due to their low cost, ease of fabrication, and large-scale synthesis. Porous silicon (PSi) layer formation via electrochemical etching offers a simple platform to tune the refractive index (i.e., porosity) of stacked layers, which has led to a host of applications based o...

Analysis of the angular acceptance of surface plasmon Bragg mirrors.

We analyze an important aspect of the behavior of surface plasmon polariton (SPP) Bragg mirrors: the dependence of the angular acceptance for reflection on the incidence angle. By means of leakage radiation microscopy, both in direct and Fourier space, we observe that the angular acceptance diminishes for increasing incidence angles. This effect, which can considerably affect the design of devi...

Coherent cancellation of photothermal noise in GaAs/Al0.92Ga0.08As Bragg mirrors

Thermal noise is a limiting factor in many high-precision optical experiments. A search is underway for novel optical materials with reduced thermal noise. One such pair of materials, gallium arsenide and aluminum-alloyed gallium arsenide (collectively referred to as AlGaAs), shows promise for its low Brownian noise when compared to conventional materials such as silica and tantala. However, Al...
